Don’t Sell Land: HC To APHB
Posted by Pradeep Sadanapalli | August 22, 2008 | 562 views
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Anil R. Dave and Justice Vilas V. Afjulpurkar on Thursday directed that the AP Housing Board should not confirm the sale of its lands in Hyderabad without the permission of the court.
While dealing with a petition filed by Mr B. Sudarshanam, general-secretary of Pattana Nivasula Hakkula Sadhana Samiti and Captain Lingala Panduranga Reddy challenging E-auction of lands by AP Housing Board, the bench said the auctions may go on.
The APHB issued a notification to sell its lands in Marredpally, Alwal, Bowenpally, Thogutta, and Girimapur and other places through electronic auction between August 25 and 27.
Mr Gandra Mohan Rao, counsel for the petitioners, told the court that the APHB was established to provide shelter to common man at a reasonable cost. He alleged that the lands meant for housing to the common man and weaker sections were being disposed off to large companies and real estate firms. He told the court that the board had earned Rs 784 crore in 2007-08 by selling out about 41 acres of its lands in the city.
