Come August, all 54 services provided by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) can be availed online.

If you need a driving licence, all you have to do is register on the RTA website (www.aptransport.org), fill in the details, book a time slot as per your convenience and walk down to the track and voila! There might be a few hundred people eagerly awaiting their turn, but with the tracking number in hand, it is you who will get the first preference.

Several other RTA services including vehicle registration, change of address and a slew of other services will be available at a click of a button as against waiting in queues for hours.

“If you are from Vizag, but in Hyderabad for some work and realise that your licence will expire in a day or two, you can renew it in Hyderabad itself,” transport commissioner Raymond Peter said.

Though data is fed online, proof documents need to be handed over personally. For this, each RTA office will have a fast-track counter to receive documents.

By August-end, the online facility could be availed by citizens in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Kurnool. “Currently, we are testing it in Khairatabad. By July 29, all 54 services will be on the central server mode at Khairatabad. By August-end, it will be extended to entire Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy districts, Vijayawada and Kadapa,’’ he said.
