Imagine you are checking flight schedules on Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS) in plush and cool surroundings while waiting for the Aeroexpress bus to arrive! Passengers can now look forward to this hospitality at the slick bus shelters being constructed by GMR.

The metal-frame bus shelters will house an electronic ticketing system, seating arrangements, luggage space and Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS). After one such bus shelter was thrown open at Hi-tech city last month, the second one is getting ready near Keyes High School at Secunderabad.

Moreover, passengers will get a taste of the futuristic architecture of the airport itself through the shelters in the city. “The shelters are being constructed at a cost of Rs. 16 lakh and will be illuminated from inside. Fans will be installed in addition to seating and luggage racks for passengers waiting for Aeroexpress services. Also, the shelters will have glass panels,” informed the GMR Group’s General Manager, Transport, D. Satyanarayana.

Apart from the shelters in Secunderabad and HITEC, similar ones will be constructed at City College, Old City; Paryatak Bhavan, Greenlands and Mehdipatnam. “The shelter sites have been provided by GHMC and will be manned by a company called TVS Logistics,” adds Mr. Satyanarayana.
