Now, Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) applications will be accepted with just 10 per cent penal fee instead of 50 per cent initial amount. Applicants who do not have some mandatory documents can also submit applications provided they furnish them later.

“As there is only one week left for the BPS scheme to end, no one should miss the one-time opportunity due to minor problems,’’ Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation incharge commissioner and municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) principal secretary SP Singh said at a press conference here on Monday. He said the relaxations were given as some people might not be able to mobilise the 50 per cent penal amount in a week and cannot be denied the opportunity.

He said people who have constructed buildings on government land and not applied for BPS, can apply with the receipt that they applied for regularisation of government encroached land under GO No 166 and produce along with the BPS application.

S P Singh, who reviewed the BPS and Layout Regulation Scheme (LRS) with all 18 municipal circle officials on Saturday, said all circle offices would function even on Saturday and Sunday before July 15 for the convenience of citizens. Helplines for BPS applicants would be opened from Tuesday, he said.

Buildings and pent houses which fall under high-rise category can apply under BPS scheme now and submit necessary No Objection Certificate from the fire services department and Airports Authority of India (AAI) within three months, the incharge commissioner said.

SP Singh said all government offices which were constructed without GHMC permission have been asked to apply under BPS before the deadline. “Whether to collect penal amount from departments or not will be decided by the government later,’’ he said. The incharge commissioner said so far 1.25 lakh applications under BPS and 35,000 applications under LRS were received in the GHMC limits. “We are happy with the response, but want more people to utilise the opportunity,’’ he said.

The MA&UD principal secretary said 438 illegal constructions put up after the BPS notification was issued were demolished in the city in the last two weeks. He said the demolition of illegal structures would be taken up after July 16.
