The Cyberabad Security Council has decided to install closed circuit televisions (CCTV) at checkposts in Hi-Tec City and Gachibowli where most IT companies are located. The CCTVs will be in place in a week.
Five checkposts - three at Madhapur and two at Gachibowli - are set up to monitor vehicle movement in the wake of security threat to software companies.
The project cost is estimated to be about Rs 56 lakh. In the first phase, two checkposts at Hi-Tec City and Gachibowli will be provided CCTVs and the remaining would be covered in the next phase.
“The second demo for the CCTV will be held on July 11. In the next two weeks, two checkposts will get CCTVs which will be connected to the command and control centre,” Cyberabad Security Council secretary S Srinivas told ‘TOI’.
A ‘command and control centre’ has already been set up at Madhapur near the fire station for
the security of the area.
Meanwhile, a website for 90 IT companies in the IT zone is being constructed with special features. The website would send out alerts pertaining to all activities in the IT zones.
It will provide information about security alerts, traffic diversion, trains, roadworks in the area, alternative routes in case of any traffic jam and other information useful to 75,000 employees in Hi-Tec City and Gachibowli, the secretary added.
Confidential information, which cannot be shared with general people, will be made available to only the security managers and administrative managers of companies. They will be given passwords to access the information.
The police will provide confidential information on security and safety. The website will also have information about standard operation procedures in emergency situations like bomb threat, blast, fire accidents and red alerts.
“The website will be launched in a month’s time. The Cyberabad Security Council chairman and Cyberabad police commissioner have also made some suggestions, which are being incorporated,” Srinivas added.
