Hyderabad: Find Carpool Partners Online

Loading ...In a bid to fight global warming, the city launched its first carpool website on Saturday. The website - www.hyderabadcarpool.org - has been done up in a user friendly manner with options for ‘Carpool offers’ and ‘Carpool wanted’ to help commuters find suitable carpool partners.
If successful, the move could help cut down pollution levels, fuel expenses and prevent traffic congestion.
“I conducted an online survey to find out the response to this. Interestingly, people working in the corporate world and IT sector expressed willingness,” I Srinivas, founder of the website, said at a press conference. He said it is a movement to bring a change.
“We are all contributors to global warming and there is need to find a solution. If a person is spending Rs 6,000 a month by driving 20 km per day, he will save Rs 3,000 by sharing the vehicle with two more persons commuting on the same route. There will also be two vehicles less on the roads,” he said.
