Govt To Survey PSU Land Utilisation

After several abortive bids to resume Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited (IDPL) land a few months ago, the revenue department is eyeing land granted to other public sector undertakings (PSU) and institutes by the state government.
The Ranga Reddy district administration’s revenue wing has taken up land survey of Hindustan Cables Limited (HCL) located at IDA Mallapur.
Of nearly 340 acres granted to HCL, 135 acres was government land and the rest was patta land acquired for the PSU. The state government gave land to HCL management in 1971.
The revenue officials had sent a letter to the HCL management a month ago that they would take up survey of land utilisation.
“We have inspected HCL a couple of days ago to check utilisation of land. The survey is being done in all mandals where the government gave land to industries and institutes,’’ RR district revenue divisional officer (East) M Manikyala Rao told ‘TOI’.
The decision to inspect HCL land assumes significance as employees of the PSU have reportedly not been getting salaries for the last eight months.
The district administration has reportedly instructed all revenue divisional officers and mandal revenue officers to complete the survey within a month. “Apart from the PSU units in the city, land granted to central government organisations like Survey of India, National Geophysical Research Institute, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology and National Remote Sensing Agency and other institutes will be surveyed,’’ a senior revenue official told ‘TOI’ on Monday. The government is planning to resume land being misused or unutilised by industries especially PSUs in surrounding areas of the city. There are nearly 30 major and minor PSUs and institutes in the city. The East division covers most of the industries and institutes. The RR district collector had made several attempts to resume IDPL land a couple of months ago after the drug major’s management gave some land on lease and was trying to lease out its administrative building. IDPL has nearly 891 acres of land in Balanagar area and is now sick. When the RR district officials resumed the land, the IDPL management went to court.
