The people of the city will get drinking water round-the-clock in three to four years. Work on the Rs 8,000-crore Metro Rail will commence by the end of July. The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, made these announcements at an election rally at Baghlingampally, under Mus-heerabad constituency, on Sunday.
He pointed out that his government has been providing daily water supply to the city. “Previously, many areas used to get drinking water once in four or five days. After we came to power, they have been getting it daily and even 24×7 in select localities. This facility will be extended to the entire city,” the Chief Minister said. Reeling out his government’s “achievements”, Dr Reddy said ration cards were distributed to every household, rice was being supplied at Rs 2 a kg and permanent houses were being constructed and a host of other welfare measures were being implemented.
