From getting chilled in a spa to receiving super-speciality treatment under one roof might become a reality in the near future with a mega health project proposed on the city outskirts.

Dubbed ‘Mediciti’ and modelled on the lines of Dubai Healthcare City with a likely investment of nearly Rs.8,000 crore, the project is proposed to be established on a 200-acre site at Ameenpur, near Patancheru.

While 100 acres would be earmarked for eight to 10 leading international hospitals for setting up advanced super-speciality facilities in cardiology, oncology, neuro-surgery, paediatric surgery and other critical areas, around 40 acres each would be allotted for recreational and office/commercial ventures.

The recreational facilities would include world class health resorts and spas.

Apart from insurance offices and pharmacies, the project comprises walkways, wellness centres, few internet medicine cafes, pharmacies and a high-end hotel, official sources told The Hindu here on Friday.

Blueprint

The blueprint of the project in which Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) would play a leading role by providing land as equity had been completed.

A big developer would be “roped in” for developing the land and getting leading hospitals on board.

The Request for Proposal for the entire project would be issued within 10 to 15 days, the sources added.

The sources said that HUDA would offer the land on sale-cum-lease to the developer, who in turn was expected to adopt the same method. However, the developer might be required to cross-subsidise the land rates to hospitals while exercising the commercial option for spas and resorts.
