Master plan: HUDA shortlists consultants

Loading ...The HUDA has short listed three consultants, including a Hong Kong based firm, for preparing the Master Plan for the extended 5,000 sq km area of HUDA.
HUDA, after the expansion of its jurisdiction from 2,000 sq km to about 7,000 sq km covering 54 mandals in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and parts of Medak, Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar districts, invited proposals from reputed consultants for preparation of Master Plan for the extended area.
Thirty three firms submitted their proposals which were examined by a committee comprising of Town Planning expert from Bangalore, L.R.Vaghale, V.K. Pathak of Mumbai, Director, Town Planning, AP and HUDA VC.
Six companies were short listed from among them.
The committee in its fourth meeting held on Monday narrowed down the list to three consultants - Lee Associates South Asia- Delhi, Ove Arup and Partners, Hong Kong and Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology, Ahmedabad-based on a detailed examination of technical proposals submitted by them.
These firms have to make presentations before the committee on May 14 and the final selection will be on the basis of evaluation of both technical and financial proposals in accordance with the RFP guidelines. Technical proposals would get 80 per cent weightage and financial proposals 20 per cent in the final selection. The selected consultant is expected to start work by May-end and complete it within a period of 18 months. The new Master Plan for the extended area will be different from the old Plan as it will club ‘Development plan with Infrastructure and Investment Plan’ for ensuring planned growth and development, said HUDA VC K.S. Jawahar Reddy.
Government had recently notified Master Plan for HUDA’s pre-expansion area of 2, 000 sq km. The old HUDA area and the new expanded area together would come under the recently formed Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).
The Plan for the extended area would be a blueprint for land use together with road network for future, offer environmental protection for water bodies, forests and investment projections for the sanitation, water supply and so on.
