Goldstone Infratech Ltd, along with June Min of TF SolarPower Pvt Ltd, and Korean equipment supplier Jusung Engineering Ltd will jointly establish a solar photovoltaic (PV) panel fabrication unit in the Fab City here.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, N.K. Rawal, CEO of Goldstone Infratech, said that the initial capacity of the unit would be 52 mega watts with an investment of Rs. 600 crore.

The company plans to put up a plant for 350 MW in the first phase over a period of four to five years with an estimated investment of Rs. 2,800 crore. He said that the investment would be raised through 2:1 debt-equity route.

The commitment from Goldstone Infra was Rs. 140 crore towards the initial investment.

Dr. Min, who was allotted 50 acres of land in the Fab City by the State government for a chip-making unit, partnered Goldstone Infratech for the solar fab project. The first phase would be completed by March 2009.

Patented design

While Jusung would supply the technology, Goldstone Infra would have a share of 54 per cent in the project. Dr. Min said that the solar fab would deploy Jusung’s patented 3D cell design and manufacturing technology which would give 8.5 per cent efficiency. The thin film technology was the best PV process in terms of application, market and cost.
