APHB Has Tough Goal To Meet

The Andhra Pradesh Housing Board (APHB) is facing a piquant situation. The government has set a target of Rs 3,500 crore for the APHB in 2008-09 fiscal under the revenue generation programme but garnering such revenues may prove an uphill task for the Board.
Land, which is the prime source of income for the Board, is in short supply.
Currently, the APHB only has about 35 acres to generate revenue. According to current estimates, this can fetch Rs 350 to Rs 400 crore, which is too less to meet the set target.
The only hope for APHB is the 10.33 acres in Raidurg, Ranga Reddy district, which can fetch over Rs 200 crore. Another three-acre plot in Khairatabad is expected to earn Rs 100 crore.
“We have requested the state to transfer more land not only in Hyderabad but also in other parts of the state for sale,” a top APHB official said.
Last year, the APHB earned Rs 1,360 crore for the state by selling land, mostly in Hyderabad.
