Huda is planning to throw open at least half the P.V. Narasimha Rao expressway by October this year. Explaining the plan, the Huda chief engineer, Mr Vivek Deshmukh, told this newspaper that traffic congestion is mainly from Mehdipatnam to Hyderguda.
“The process has been set in motion to complete the construction of the expressway from Mehdipatnam to Hyderguda, about 6 km of the total 11.5 km length, and throw it open for vehiclists.” From Hyderguda to Aramgarh and up to Shamshabad on National Highway-7, the width of the Inner Ring Road is 150 feet. This will allow free flow of traffic once the get down from the expressway at Hyderguda.
Meanwhile, Huda paid Rs 2.7 crore and acquired 2,300 sq. metres of land from the defence forces to allow con struction of four spans of the expressway near the Mehdipatnam Rythu Bazaar.
The expressway corridor is behind schedule by several months. The delay in land acquisition, negotiations with managements of religious structures have further slowed down the work. The expressway is now likely to be ready by March next year. Of the 300 piers, about 150 have been completed and only 35 per cent of work on spans has been done.
