With pressure mounting from the State Government on Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) to auction prime lands under its limits to raise funds for taking up developmental activities, the officials are drawing plans to develop over 3,500 acres land for the purpose.
Huda, which has now come to be known as the land auctioning authority, is preparing special development plan for Jawahar Nagar on the city outskirts for about 2,000 acres.
The State Government has allotted 200 acres for setting up Birla Institute of Technological Science (BITS) and 50 acres more to Genpact, a global provider of high-quality business and technology services to expand its operations in Hyderabad by setting up its third state-of-the-art campus with an investment of over Rs 1.20 billion.
Genpact, India’s largest Business Process outsourcing (BPO) firm, will construct a million square feet IT/ITES (IT-enabled services) space on about 50 acres of land at Jawahar Nagar on the city’s outskirts.
The Government has also sanctioned 150 acres to construct houses for middle income group families under Rajiv Gandhi Swagruha Kalpa scheme.
Huda officials told this website’s newspaper that after drawing the plans, the available Government land would be developed into big and medium plots and auctioned.
About 800 acres of Government land at Kismatpur, Ameenpur, Sultanpur, Shamshabad and Kokapet is being developed for auctioning purpose. Huda is taking all steps to vacate the stay orders of the disputed lands in order to avoid delays in auctioning.
Huda officials said that nearly 1,800 to 2,000 acres of land in and around Hyderabad had already been auctioned. The money that has been generated through these auctions has been transferred to the State Treasury.
