Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy directed various Government departments to complete the road connectivity to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad quickly.
Sufficient funds have been sanctioned to the Roads & Buildings and other departments to complete the works on schedule.
Operational in March
The airport was going to become operational by March 16 and the departments had to race against time to finish the works entrusted to them.
The Chief Minister wanted the Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police Commissioners to post sufficient number of traffic policemen all along the connecting roads to ensure smooth flow of vehicles.
Home guard posts
Dr. Reddy also sanctioned 1,000 additional home guards for both the areas.
He also reviewed the progress of road development in connecting stretches of Banjara Hills, Secunderabad, Tarnaka, Lakdikapul, etc., being taken up by the GHMC.
The Ranga Reddy Collectorate was told to hand over land for widening while Hyderabad Urban Development Authority had assured the Chief Minister that it will complete the connecting road from Shivarampally to the National Highway by April.
The truck terminal will also have to be completed before taking up other civil works near the airport, a press release from the Chief Minister’s office stated.
