Three more Centres of Excellence — the State Academy of Textiles and Garments, the State Academy of Service Sectors and the State Academy of Animation — will be set up in Andhra Pradesh soon.

The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, approved the setting up of these institutes and the upgrading of the department of tourism’s Institute of Hospitality and Hotel Management as another Centre of Excellence. These new academies will be on the lines of National Academy of Construction.

The Chief Minister was assured by the departments of technical education, rural development, labour and employment, collegiate education and youth services, as also the Council for Higher Education, that the government’s goal of creating 1 million jobs by 2009 March would be achieved. The finance minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, the technical education minister, Mr R. Chenga Reddy, the rural development minister, Mr G. Chinna Reddy, the labour and employment minister, Mr G.
