Solution in sight: Work in progress for the new flyover near the Hitech City railway station.
In a short span of time, the spinal road connecting Kukatpally with Madhapur has turned bustling with traffic as it cuts the travel time for software professionals employed at Madhapur, Kondapur and Gachibowli.
It has also turned into a beehive of activity with traffic that plies between Vivekanandanagar, Housing Board and Kavuri Hills and parts of Jubilee Hills.
An otherwise spacious road from JNTU to Cyber Towers, it narrows down considerably at the Hitech City railway station throwing up a bottleneck for the vehicles particularly during office hours.
It is to ease this congestion that work on a road overbridge (RoB) at Hitech City railway station point has been started.
Started with an estimated cost of Rs. 24 crore, the RoB, when completed, will rest on 110 piers and the work is already in progress with nine piers erected.
Of the piers that are to be part of the RoB that flies over the railway line and offer a smooth shuttling of vehicles, the Railways has recently cleared the design for 30 piers that are to come up here, according to Hyderabad Urban Development Authorities (HUDA) officials.
The Railways has to be paid Rs.1 crore as a deposit which the HUDA is planning to transfer shortly.
A four-acre site has been provided by the Andhra Pradesh Housing Board (APHB) for locating a casting yard to prepare the pre-cast material needed for the RoB.
Immensely helpful
The project with the bridge flying over the railway tracks is expected to be of immense help in smooth traffic flow as a large number of housing conglomerations have started coming up between JNTU and the railway station.
A flyover at Hitech City junction near Cyber Towers has also been proposed and the Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has laid the foundation stone recently.
To come up on Kukatpally-Mind Space IT Park Road, it is proposed to offer three levels of traffic flow, on flyover, road and the underpass at an estimated cost of Rs.37 crore.
