If serious thinking in the Government translates into an order, residents of the twin cities will be able to go to hotels till midnight.
According to Mr Krishnaiah, President of Andhra Pradesh Hotels Association, the Government is likely to come out with a GO soon, allowing hoteliers to open hotels and restaurants to stay open up to 12 midnight.
Addressing a press conference here Monday, he said the idea was mooted in the wake of growing night life in the State capital. He, however, said that the hotel-goers too should express their views openly in favour of the move.
Denying the argument that the opening of hotels beyond 10.30 p.m. would add to congestion, he said when cinemas were allowed to open up to midnight, hotels should also be allowed. After all, it was a matter of convenience for the people.
The hoteliers have been asking the Government for long to increase business hours, stating that more and more people wanted the hotels to stay open for a few more hours.
Golden Jubilee
Meanwhile, the association will celebrate its golden jubilee here on December 14 and 15.
The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, will inaugurate the celebrations.
The meet will have six interactive sessions between the Government and members of the association. The association has a membership of 4,000, including hotels, eateries, restaurants, cafes and bakeries.
An expo will be organised to highlight updates on issues related to health, safety, security and hotel infrastructure. Marking the event, the organisers will conduct a competition in cookery, bakery, flower arrangements and interior designing.
