Japan bank loan for ORR
Saturday, December 1st, 2007The state cabinet on Saturday cleared a proposal to obtain a loan of Rs 2,422 crore from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) for Outer Ring Road (ORR) phase II works from Patancheru to Pedda Amberpet via Medchal and Ghatkesar covering a distance of 71.3 kms.
State to get IT varsity
Saturday, December 1st, 2007The state cabinet approved the setting up of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Kno-wledge Technologies with headquarters in Hyderabad. Its constituent units will be set up at Basar in Adilabad (Telangana), Nuzividu in Krishna district (Andhra) and Idupulapaya in Kadapa district (Rayalaseema).
Illegal buildings can stay
Saturday, December 1st, 2007The government has decided to regularise certain types of illegal constructions on payment of heavy penalities. A meeting of the state cabinet chaired by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, also approved rules for regularisation of illegal layouts.

Though no official survey has been conducted, the number of illegal constructions in Greater Hyderabad alone is expected to be over 50,000.
