Huda sitting on 250 building applications

With the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (Huda) offices in ‘pack and move mode’, over 250 building applications have been pending for the past two months.
Huda was flooded with applications a couple of months ago before it transferred powers to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to give building permissions in its (Huda) jurisdiction in September. But, Huda so far cleared only 20 applications for high-rise buildings last week after builders pressurised the officials.
Huda received about 350 building applications in just two months before September. Of the total, 50 applications were filed for high-rise building permissions in the Huda limits.
While some withdrew their applications with Huda and submitted fresh proposals to GHMC, others are still waiting for clearance as Huda does not insist on documents like ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) from the revenue department for granting building permission.
“The GHMC has been clearing building permissions up to ground and two floors within 48 hours, while Huda has not cleared even a single application after 48 days,” G Srinivas, an applicant, told TOI.
However, officials blame delay on ’shifting of offices’ and consolidation of applications.
“Huda has just started processing them. We will clear all the building applications in three months,” a senior planning official with Huda said.
