After setting shop in Bangalore, IHHR, the company behind Ananda in the Himalayas has opened Ista’s doors in Hyderabad and is planning more across India. Ashok Khanna, managing director, IHHR Hospitality, speaks to Vyas Sivanand about the company’s expansion plans
What are the unique features of Ista Hyderabad?
Ista, which means ‘Sacred Place,’ is the luxury business hotel brand from IHHR Hospitality. Ista Hyderabad has 176 rooms and 9 suites and is the only resort hotel incorporating all luxuries in a business setting. It also has the largest spa offering ayurveda, international body and face treatments, yoga, fitness centre and a heated swimming pool. It is located on 15 acres of land with water bodies, amidst lush tropical landscaping. We have two F&B outlets in the hotel, both indoors and outdoors. One restaurant is an Indian specialty restaurant serving Hyderabadi and Mughlai cuisine. The other is an all day dining one with live counters for pizza, pasta, tepinyaki, tempura and sushi.
What is the kind of investment that IHHR has kept aside for brand expansion of Ista?
IHHR has allocated an investment of Rs 110 - 150 crore for each Ista Hotel, depending upon completion dates.
Ananda was planning a spa institute in Hyderabad. Is Ista a part of that plan?
IHHR will have a very large spa institute in Hyderabad in the same campus. This will be ready by October this year and will be the only institute in the world offering international standard face & beauty treatments, yoga and ayurveda under one roof.
Which other cities will get an Ista and an Ananda?
For the Ista brand we are looking at Pune and Ahmedabad by the end of 2008, Amritsar by the end of 2009, and Nagpur and Coimbatore by 2010, and also at Noida. We have identified Jaipur, Puri, Maldives and South Africa for the Ananda brand.
